Yes, travel is a flat rate charged according to distance from our base and ranges from $35 - $120.
All after-hours calls will be charged a per km travel surcharge in addition to the flat rate.
We are an emergency on-call vet and available from 8am - 10pm weekdays and 8am - 6pm on weekends. If we are unavailable, this will be stated on our voicemail.
Yes. After-hours is from 4pm - 10pm weekdays and 8am - 6pm weekends and public holidays. The consultation is charged at $350 plus travel. Any procedures or medications are additional. All after-hours will require pre-payment of the consultation and travel prior to attending.
If you have an emergency, please call the mobile number listed on our webiste and leave a detailed message including return contact number, name and location of the animal.
We might be with another patient but will respond to you as soon as we can. If we haven't responded within 30 minutes, we highly recommend calling another veterinarian in the area.
If your pet is experiencing a life threatening medical emergency and you cannot get hold of a veterinarian in the area, the closest 24/7 emergency hospital is Animal Emergency Services on the Sunshine Coast, no appointment is necessary. For equine emergencies, contact Dr Sally Whalan or Cooroora Veterinary Services.
The short answer is yes, the long answer is each patient is assessed on a case by case basis.
We will advise you during the initial phone conversation if PPE and exclusion might be warranted given the vaccination status and clinical signs of your horse. At that stage, you can decide if you would like to proceed with the consultation.
Payment to cover PPE and a Hendra exclusion in addition to the consultation fee and travel will be required prior to attending.
In-home euthanasia is $250 (cats), $300 (dogs) and $350 (horses) plus travel regardless of species or time of day.
There is an additional charge of $50 if you would like us to take care of your pets' remains (i.e. communal burial for small animals only). Alternatively, we can refer you to the lovely folks at Forever Ours Pet Crematorium. For our large animals, we have contacts for home burial services should you need these.
Yes absolutely however we are required by veterinary regulations to conduct a consult and examination prior to the procedure to establish a doctor/patient relationship. We can then perform the euthanasia if you still wish to proceed.
An initial palliative care consultation typically lasts for 1.5hrs and involves a thorough history and chat, physcial examination of your pet and a walk-around the house and environment. We then develop a comprehensive treatment plan and schedule another consultation to go through this with you step by step to make sure you are comfortable with the suggestions and it meets your expectations. At this consultation, we may also implement some of the recommendations. The intital palliative care package is $300 plus travel. Follow-up visits are then charged at a discounted rate of $85 plus travel and treatments.

If your animal is an existing patient, we offer a 15 minute telemedicine consultation if you have concerns regarding palliative care or require advice on an existing health condition we are currently treating. All phone consultations take place within hours (9am - 4pm) and are charged at $50.
Payments can be made via credit/debit card or direct transfer (Osko). We also offer VetPay and Zipay to assist with the cost of treatment. Unfortunately we are unable to offer accounts or payment plans directly.
